Right click doesn’t work in Excel 2007 anymore.

My right click context menu stopped working in Excel 2007 all of a sudden. It was driving me nuts. The Excel context menu wouldn’t display.

I came across the solution, which seems to be an absurd on, but it worked.

Open excel
hit alt-f11 to get to the VBE
hit ctrl-g to see the immediate window
Type this and hit enter:
then the same with this line:
     application.CommandBars("cell").Enabled = True
Hit alt-f11 to get back to excel and test it out.

I am quite impressed someone found this solution, but also trying to figure out how in the world this happened in the first place.

Source to pay tribute to.

  1. I was trying to hide some columns in a worksheet in Excel 2007 and all of a sudden, the right-click menu would not stay open long enough for me to select hide. I tried it in a new blank workbook and had the same problem. This solution worked. Thank you!

  2. Thank you so much!!! I have been having this issue for months. Its has been so frustrating and no other fixes worked. This did!!! Hooray!!

  3. I tried the solution above & it did not work for me. Not sure what would’ve changed but right click worked last week & now it doesn’t. Any other suggestions?
